WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – A big win for the Florida Southern College women's tennis team on the road as they win 4-3 against Palm Beach Atlantic Saturday morning at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center.
The Mocs (10-6, 2-4 SSC), ranked 39
th in the latest ITA poll, won the doubles point and split the singles competition for the 4-3 win. The Sailfish (6-10, 1-7 SSC), ranked 41
st in the nation, tallied three flight wins in singles, but not enough as the Mocs hold on for the 4-3 win.
Florida Southern pairing of
Laura Vetter and
Mathilda Vidgren handled their flight with a 6-1 win, before the Sailfish responded with a 6-3 win on #2. Point-deciding flight went to
Maxima Ellenberg and
Flor Salerno who outlasted their PBA opponent with a 7-5 win and doubles point.
In singles competition,
Isabella Bolivar and Vidgren won their flights in two sets to take a 3-1 lead halfway through the match. Palm Beach Atlantic tallied two more flight wins to tie the match at three as the match-deciding point was left to #5 court with
Olivia Bryant. Bryant won her flight 6-2, 6-3 to give the Mocs a big conference win.
