WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Florida Southern College men's tennis team tallies a big conference win on the road with a 5-2 win over Palm Beach Atlantic Saturday morning at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center.
The Mocs (10-4, 2-3 SSC) won the doubles point and carried the winning into singles for the 5-2 win. The Sailfish (5-7, 2-4 SSC) tallied two flight wins in singles competition, but not enough as the Mocs take the victory.
For doubles competition,
Erik Nordblom and
Oscar Sohl took on court #1 as they won their flight in a 6-4 score.
Valentin Hertweck and
Chris Fok Kow teamed up for a 6-2 win and seal the Mocs double point and momentum into the singles competition.
In singles, Hertweck, ranked 62
nd in the latest ITA poll, lost his first set, but rallied for a three-set win over his Sailfish opponent. Sohl battled on #3 to win the first set before dropping the second set. Undeterred, Sohl won the third set for the win, as did Nordblom and
Brandon Pham with flight wins and 5-2 win for the Mocs.
