LAKELAND, Fla. – The Division II Conference Commissioners Association has named Nathan Madej and Dawson Lane from Florida Southern College baseball to the D2CCA All-South Region Second Team. The regional awards come after voting by the region's sports information directors.
 
Both Madej and Lane were a strong emphasis on pitching and defense halfway through the season as the Moccasins dominated the mound for many of their conference series. Combined, Madej and Lane earned six Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week selections and three NCBWA South Region POTW nods, all of which are records in a single season by Florida Southern pitchers. Two selections to the D2CCA All-Region team are the most by FSC starting pitchers since 2017.
 
Madej is named to the All-Region second team after a great year with the Mocs. He earned his All-SSC First Team honors after leading the league in opposing batting average with .172, and hits allowed (39). Fourth in the nation among Division II pitchers, Madej averaged 5.40 hits allowed per nine innings. Despite only 12 appearances this season, Madej went 7-1 and one save with a team-high 65 strikeouts. Madej has already been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, two-time NCBWA South Region Pitcher of the Week and an SSC baseball record five Pitcher of the Week nods in a single season.
 
Lane earned a second-team nod after leading the team in ERA among starters with an impressive 2.07, third-best in the SSC. He placed in the top 10 of the conference in nine different categories, including only 18 runs allowed, 14 of them earned. Lane went 5-1 in his 20 appearances, including two saves when he served as a reliever to begin the season before moving to his starting role halfway through. Lane struck out 60 in the 238 at-bats, allowing just one home run all year. An SSC Pitcher of the Week last month, Lane was also named to the All-SSC second team and an NCBWA South Region Pitcher of the Week winner this season.
