CLINTON, Miss. - The Florida Southern College men's soccer team fell 1-0 in their season opener against Mississippi College on Friday evening.
Mississippi College struck early as Felix Ewald snuck one in on the Mocs goal in the lower right corner during the 34th minute. The Moccasins held the Choctaws scoreless from that point on. Any shots the Choctaws did manage were shut down by FSC goalkeeper
AJ Pearce who amassed an incredible seven saves in his first appearance since 2019.
The Mocs were led offensively by
Felix Tonne. The sophomore ripped 5 shots, including three on goal but was unable to connect on any of them. Freshman
Dylan Lowther came into the game off the bench and ripped a shot on goal in the last minute of the first half, but it was stopped by the Choctaw keeper.
Florida Southern amassed six corner kicks and seven free kicks throughout the match, but unfortunately, nothing came of these set pieces.
