CLEVELAND, Miss. - A strong offensive presence from the Florida Southern men's soccer team secured its first win of the season on the road at Delta State Sunday afternoon. The Mocs outscored the Statesmen 3-1 at Johnson Field in Cleveland, Miss. to move to 1-1-0 on the young season.
The Mocs struck early as Dino Leddie scored his first collegiate goal in the seventh minute off a pass from Moccasin vetern Leoluca Diefenbach to put Florida Southern up 1-0. Less than 20 minutes later, Henri Tophoven recorded his first goal as a Moccasin with an assist from Felix Tonne to push the Mocs up 2-0 early in the contest, and would ride that into the halftime break.
Two minutes into the second half, the Statesmen cut the deficit to one with a goal in teh 47th minute. Victor Beker and Kyle Carr connected to extend the Mocs lead to 3-1 with just under 20 minutes to play in the contest, marking Carr's first collegiate goal. Florida Southern would sustain Delta State and earn the first win of the season, 3-1.
Goalkeeper AJ Pearce posted three saves while facing eight shots to earn his first win of the season in the full 90 minutes of action.

The Mocs will have their home opener this Friday, September 2 at Berend Field in Lakeland against Alabama-Huntsville. The start time is set for 7 PM.
