LAKELAND, FLA. - The Florida Southern College men's soccer team faced the elements after a three-hour weather delay as the Mocs captured a 3-2 win over the University of Alabama-Huntsville.
Henri Tophoven continues to dominate the front line for FSC as the graduate transfer earned a hat trick scoring all three goals for Southern.
Florida Southern improves to 2-1 on the young season, while UAH is still looking for their first win to fall 0-3.
The Chargers put a goal on the board first after a foul in the box led to a UAH penalty kick where they took an early 1-0 lead in the 26th minute. The Mocs controlled the majority of the plays but were unable to find the back of the net until the second half when
Felix Tonne found Tophoven to tie the game at the 48:18 mark.
Ten minutes later Tophoven finds the back of the net off a corner kick from
Luca Bernoth to earn his second goal of the game and take a 2-1 lead for FSC. At 73:06 the Chargers fouled in the Mocs box once again resulting in a penalty kick where UAH found the far left corner of the net to tie the game at 2-2.
The game-winner came from none other than Tophoven as he battled through the Chargers defenders and kicked in the final goal of the evening solidifying the Mocs for a win at home with a 3-2 decision over UAH.
Southern led the way with 14 shots, seven on goal while Alabama-Huntsville had nine shots, just four on goal.
Goalkeeper
