MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Florida Southern College men's swimming team won its regular-season finale with a road conference win over Florida Tech Friday afternoon at the Panther Aquatic Center.
The Mocs won with a team score of 175-86 with several event wins as the men's team turns its attention to the conference championships next month.
Florida Southern opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay behind a team of
Brandon Wilson,
Matteo Zampese,
Tristan Clanton, and
Kyle Micallef in a time of 1:31.34. In the 1000 free,
Keith Peristeridis, reigning SSC Men's Swimmer of the Week, won with another B standard time of 9:28.56 as
Elder Oliveira was third with 9:53.48. Another first/second finish for the Mocs in the 200 free as
Thomas Wooldridge (1:45.50) and Wilson (1:46.04) took top points.
The streak continued with majority podium finishes as Zampese won the 100 breast in 57.44 and
Ludwig Mueller right behind in 57.80 and Clanton in first in the 200 fly (1:55.25) and
Theo Peristeridis in third with 1:57.76. Oliveira finished second in the 50 free (22.12) with
Cameron Lai-Harris first in the 100 free (47.66) and Micallef in third for the 100 free (48.63).
Other top finishes included Wilson 1:58.69 event win in the 200 back ahead of
William Eriksson in second (1:59.01). A podium sweep in the 200 breast with Mueller in first (2:07.01), Zampese in second (2:10.25), and
Boris Mitev in third (2:10.68). Another podium sweep with K. Peristeridis in the 500 free (4:35.35), Oliveira second (4:47.20), and Wooldridge in third (4:53.53). The third podium sweep of the day was Zampese in first for the 200 IM (1:57.88), Mitev in second (1:59.84),
Nicko Peristeridis third (2:00.45). Mocs finished the day with a win in the 200 free relay behind Micallef, K. Peristeridis, T. Peristeridis, and Wilson.
Florida Southern will continue to practice ahead of the SSC Championships, which will take place Feb. 15-19 at the Long Center in Clearwater, Fla.
