MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Sunshine State Conference has announced
Jenny Staten from Florida Southern College as the SSC Women's Defensive Player of the Week, the third such honor of her career.
Staten was named the Defensive Player of the Week following a win and shutout over No. 3 Embry-Riddle Wednesday night. The Killdeer, Illinois native faced 12 shots and had four saves as the Mocs won 1-0 over the Eagles as the program's first win over a ranked opponent since 2014.
The graduate student registered her seventh shutout of the season (a new career-high for a single season by Staten) and brought her career to 23 shutouts (tied for 10th overall among NCAA Division II active leaders). Staten set a new program record for career shutouts earlier this season and continues to lead the defensive action for the Mocs heading into the final three games of the regular season.
The Mocs will host their last regular season game on Wednesday, Oct. 25, as they take on the University of Tampa at 7 p.m. at Berend Field.
