SAINT LEO, Fla. - Florida Southern College men's soccer team hit the road on Wednesday evening, facing Saint Leo University in a rematch, this time in Sunshine State Conference action. The Moccasins (3-2-4, 1-0-3 SSC) and Lions (3-3-4, 1-0-2) ended with the same result as the non-conference match, but both teams would score to finish with a 1-1 draw in 90 minutes of action.
FSC led the way into the locker room at halftime with eight shots to Saint Leo's four. However, it was the Lions with the momentum out of the half, as they attacked first to go up 1-0 in the 56th minute. After the goal, the Mocs added intensity by putting more pressure on Saint Leo's back line and eventually got through in the 84th minute.
Sophomore midfielder
Dylan Lowther did it again for the second consecutive game, finding the back of the net from junior midfielder
Luca Bernoth. Lowther's goal is his second of the year and third of his career. The remainder of the contest was silent from both ends, as neither team could make anything else fall in their favor to finish the SSC contest with a 1-1 draw.
Overall, the Mocs outshot the Lions 12-to-6 with Saint Leo having one shot on goal, while FSC had six. Junior midfielder
Jay Skelcher-Maxwell and graduate student midfielder
Hunter Stroble led with three shots, as Stroble had two on goal and the captain Skelcher-Maxwell with one. Junior midfielder
Felix Tonne had two shots, one being on goal, while four Moccasins had a shot as sophomore defender
Ruben Linden and junior defender
Mathias Kjolner's both shots were on goal.
Florida Southern jumps back into action on Saturday as they host nationally ranked Rollins on Berend Field. The Moccasins are scheduled to take on the No.10 Tars at 7:00 p.m.
