LAKELAND, Fla. – The No. 12 Florida Southern College men's swimming team lost its dual meet against No. 5 University of Tampa Saturday afternoon in Sunshine State Conference competition at the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center Pool.
The Mocs had several great podium finishers but ultimately fell to the Spartans by a team score of 206-56.
Florida Southern opened the SSC dual meet with the 200 medley relay with a team of
Brandon Wilson, Ludwig Mueller, Nino Viallon, and
Cameron Lai-Harris a second-place team in a time of 1:31.55. For the 1000 free,
Thomas Wooldridge led the Mocs to a third-place finish in 9:47.02, and
John Zeiger the top Moc in the 200 free in a time of 1:43.13.
Wilson had a great meet against the Spartans with several podium finishes himself, beginning with the 100 back when he finished second in 50.96.
Travis Oleson finished third place in 58.43 for the 100 breast as
William Eriksson was the best FSC swimmer in the 200 fly in a time of 1:58.25. Lai-Harris finished fourth among the field in the 50 free with a time of 21.29 and Zeiger finished fourth in the 100 free in 46.62.
Wilson got his second individual podium finish with a third-place time of 1:55.46 in the 200 back and
Nicko Peristeridis matched a third-place finish in the 200 breast in the next event (2:05.10). In the 500 free, distance swimmer Wooldridge was fourth in 4:44.91 before another fourth-place finish by Lai-Harris in the 100 fly. The last individual event for the Mocs was the 200 IM which Viallon was third in 1:55.80. The final 400 free relay event saw a team of Wilson, Zeiger, Lai-Harris, and Viallon third in a time of 3:09.32.
The Mocs are on the road in two weeks for the three-day Panther Invitational, hosted by Florida Tech Nov. 17-19 in Melbourne, Fla.
