MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Florida Southern (5-4, 0-0 SSC) won game two and the on-the-road series against Georgia College and State University (1-5, 1-0 PBC) on Saturday, Feb. 18 by a score of 13-3.

The Mocs took an early 5-0 lead in the top of the first thanks to a grand slam by
Mitch Donofrio and didn't look back. Leading the Mocs in hits was
Connor Berry, with four hits in five at-bats, and leading in scoring were
El'Rico Riley,
Julio Cortez,
Jevin Relaford and
Jeff Liquori, each with two runs.

Scoring for the Mocs began when Berry drove in Liquori on a single to left field. After
Bryce Safferwich was hit by a pitch, the bases were loaded as Donofrio came up to bat. At the end of the first, the Mocs had a 5-0 lead.

Neither team would score again until the top of the sixth, which would be a three-run inning for the Mocs. Relaford scored on a fly out to center field by Liquori. E. Riley and Cortez followed, brought in by a right field single from Safferwich.

Both teams saw action in the sixth inning. GCSU scored one run in the bottom of the inning, closing the score gap 8-1.

The seventh was another busy inning for the Mocs, who scored four times. Cortez singled to right field, driving in a run for
Rohsean Riley. Cortez advanced to second on a passed ball, putting both him and
D'Ante Starks in scoring position. Liquori doubled to left field, driving in both Cortez and Starks. Liquori got his opportunity to score on a single to center field by Berry.

Georgia College scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth after
Tommy Turkett came in to pitch for
Kerry Wright, bringing the score to 12-3.

The Mocs scored their final run of the game in the top of the ninth. After hitting a double to left field, Cortez ended up in scoring position. His run, the thirteenth for the Mocs, was driven in by
Ryan Magdic, who singled to right field.

Justin Wit pitched the bottom of the ninth for the Mocs, preventing GCSU from scoring again. The final score was 13-3, the most runs the Mocs have scored and the largest winning margin in a game so far this season. Donofrio's grand slam was also the first for the Mocs this season, the last being April 12, 2022, by
Jared DeSantolo.

The winning pitcher was
Aric McAtee, who gave up only one run and four hits in six innings pitched.

The Mocs will take on Georgia College for their final game tomorrow at 12 p.m. at John Kurtz Field in Milledgeville, Ga.
