ORLANDO, Fla. – The Florida Southern College men's tennis team won 6-1 Tuesday afternoon over the Davenport Panthers at the USTA campus in Orlando, Fla.
The Mocs, registering votes in the latest ITA poll, improved to 5-3 overall on the season with the win over the Panthers winning the doubles point and all but one singles court. The Panthers fell to 7-5 on the season.
FSC started with a great doubles competition as
Chris Fok Kow and
Matteo Feggi continued their run with a 6-4 #1 court win.
Ryan Rajakar and
Mario Garoz also won with a 6-2 score, securing the doubles point.
Edoardo Melindo and
JP Fujiwara lost a close one #3 7-5 against their Davenport opponents.
In singles, Fok Kow won 6-3, 6-2 on the #1, with a similar win by Garoz on #3 with a score of 6-1, 6-2.
Inaki Braun Simo lost in two sets at the #2 court 6-1, 6-3, but that would be the only court loss by the Mocs.
Alex Fascio, fresh off an SSC Athlete of the Week selection yesterday, won his court in three sets, winning the first set 7-5 before a 6-4 set two loss. In the tiebreak, Fascio outlasted the Panthers 10-7 in the third set.
John Gidefjord and
Elliott Altman were other court winners for the Mocs.
The Mocs will return to Lakeland to host the University of Findlay on Thursday, March 2, set for a 3 p.m. start at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
