ORLANDO, Fla.- The No. 24 Florida Southern Women's Tennis team overwhelmed the Davenport Panthers 6-1 on Tuesday, February 28th at the USTA National Campus.
In similar fashion to last week's matchup against Eckerd, the Mocs had success on all three doubles courts. However, the Mocs did not get off without a fight as both
Maxima Ellenberg &
Laura Vetter on court #1 and
Kelly Klaren &
Kennedi Brown on court #3 entered a tie-breaker round for the ultimate win.
Vivien Charvatova and
Neli Sunjic had a definitive win with a final score of 6-3 on court #2.
The Mocs were effective once again on the singles courts, with wins from
Laura Vetter,
Vivien Charvatova,
Jolie Miller, Olivia Bryant and
Laia Pasini.
Pasini dominated on court #1, going on an average of 98% for returns made between the two sets.
On court #5, Charvatova scored two aces while her opponent was only able to manage one. After a close first set of 7-6, Charvatova dominated in the second set, finishing 5-2.
The Mocs will travel to Hilton Head, SC this weekend to play a series of matches against Tiffin University, Barton College, Lake Superior State University and Saginaw Valley State University. The first match against Tiffin at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 4th.
