#24 Women's Tennis Open Hilton Head Trip with 5-2 Win Against Tiffin

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Florida Southern College women's tennis team opened a spring break trip to Hilton Head with a 5-2 win against Tiffin University Saturday morning.
 
The Mocs (5-2, 2-2 SSC) have won the last five matches in a row and opened today's match with doubles win and great singles court victories. The Dragons (8-2, 0-0 GMAC) suffered their first loss at Hilton Head in this year's trip but did manage two singles court wins.
 
FSC had a doubles win with Vivien Charvatova and Laia Pasini 6-1 on court #2, before a loss by Kennedi Brown and Kelly Klaren 6-2 at #3. In a back-and-forth battle on the first court, Florida Southern's pairing of Maxima Ellenberg and Laura Vetter outlasted Tiffin with a 7-6 (7-2) court win and doubles point for Mocs.
 
In singles, Jolie Miller opened the singles winning on #6 with a 7-5, 6-3 victory. Charvatova handled her Tiffin opponent in two sets (her fifth flight win in a row), as did Olivia Bryant and her sixth singles win in a row. The next three courts went to a tiebreak third set with Moccasin losing on two of the courts.
 
Vetter won her first set but lost the second and the tiebreak for a point to the Dragons. Pasini also won her first set but the second set went to Tiffin in a lengthy 7-6 (10-8) set win for the Dragons. Another battle in the tiebreak went to Tiffin with Pasini's loss. On court #3, Ellenberg lost her first set but rallied to win the second and a 10-7 tiebreak third set win and 5-2 Moccasin win.
 
Mocs will continue their Hilton Head matchups with a match against Barton College tomorrow, March 5, at 2 p.m. and Monday, March 6 against Saginaw Valley State University at 9 a.m.
