LAKELAND, Fla. - The No. 22 Florida Southern College men's tennis extended their win streak to seven after a 7-0 commanding win over Southern New Hampshire University Saturday afternoon at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
The Mocs (10-3) have won the last seven in a row in a dominate stand at home. The Penmen fall to 1-2 in the spring 2023 season.
FSC opened the match with doubles point and won two of the three courts. A national ranking battle at the #1 court was the match decider as Matteo Feggi and Chris Fok Kow (eighth in ITA doubles) took on No. 16 pairing of Jonathan Berling and Fernando Torres 7-6 (7-5). At court #3, SNHU won 6-2 over JP Fujiwara and Danny Thomas, but Mario Garoz and Ryan Rajakar won 6-3 at #2 to secure Moccasin doubles point.
In singles, a massive win at the #1 court with Fok Kow beating No. 58 Berling in three sets. Fok Kow won his first set but dropped the second to lead to a third set, which Fok Kow won 7-5. Garoz had a 7-5, 6-1 win at #3 and Feggi a 6-1, 6-3 winner at #6 court. The winning match went to Inaki Braun Simo with a 6-3, 6-4 win. Alex Fascio took #4 with a 6-3, 6-3 decision and John Gidefjord at #5 7-6 (7-3), 6-1.
The Mocs will continue their home stand with a match against No. 48 Thomas Jefferson University on Wednesday, March 15, set for a 3 p.m. start at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
