LAKELAND, Fla. – Senior defender
Nick Shannon of the 18
th-ranked Florida Southern men's lacrosse team was named to the USILA DII Team of the Week for his performances against Clark and Young Harris this past week.

Shannon led a defensive unit that allowed just 7.50 goals per contest this week as the Moccasins defeated Clark 22-9 before knocking off Young Harris 26-6. In the victory over the Cougars, FSC saw Clark commit 22 turnovers with 12 being forced by the FSC defense. Shannon forced two of those turnovers while scooping up three ground balls. In the win over the Mountain Lions, FSC forced 19 of YHC's 30 turnovers led by Shannon's five caused turnovers. The senior also scooped up two ground balls in the win. Shannon now leads the SSC in caused turnovers per contest (3.00) while ranking second in the entire NCAA Division II. The Mocs as a team lead the NCAA in caused turnovers per contest at 15.71 as well as ground balls per game (47.71).

Shannon was joined on the Team of the Week by Kyle Decrispino (Lander), Jed Brummett (Colorado Mesa), Sean Cosgrove (Dominican), Dougie Crawford (UIndy), Brian Hoerter (Adelphi), Matt Vavonese (Le Moyne), Tyler Douglass (Flagler), Anthony Caputo (Pace) and Jake Bowman (Frostburg State). Shannon is one of just two defenders on the Team of the Week and he is joined by four attackmen, one face off specialist, a goalie, and two midfielders.

Shannon and the rest of the 18
th-ranked Moccasins will be back in action Friday, March 17 at 7 p.m. as they welcome in Flagler for a non-conference contest. Tyler Douglass, a midfield at FC, was also named to the Team of the Week.
