AUGUSTA, Ga. – The No. 24 Florida Southern College men's tennis team lost a close match against No. 26 August University Friday afternoon at the Newman Tennis Center.
The Mocs (13-7, 2-4 SSC) won the doubles point but were unable to solidly enough wins in singles for the narrow loss on the road. The Jaguars (14-5, 1-2 PBC) pulled away from the Mocs in singles competition with many of the courts in their favor for the 4-3 win over the Mocs.
Florida Southern opened with wins at the #1 and #3 courts for the doubles point. The No. 9 pairing of
Chris Fok Kow and
Matteo Feggi won 6-4 on their court and
Danny Thomas and
John Gidefjord also won 6-4 with the point secured.
Mario Garoz and
Ryan Rajakar lost 6-4 against the Jags at court 2.
The only singles wins for the Mocs were by
Inaki Braun Simo with a three-set win at #2 court and
Elliott Altman at #6 in two sets. FSC had
Alex Fascio, Gidefjord, Garoz, and Fok Kow drop their sets in the loss to the Jags.
The Mocs will continue their Georgia trip with a neutral-site matchup against No. 45 Georgia College Sunday, April 2, set for a 12 p.m. start at the Newman Tennis Center.
