HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The No. 24 Florida Southern College women's tennis team finished its spring break trip undefeated with a 6-1 win over Saginaw Valley State University Monday morning in Hilton Head.
The Mocs, with a seven-match winning streak, improve to 7-2 overall and 3-0 over the trip to South Carolina. The Cardinals fall to 3-3 overall with one singles court win over the match.
Florida Southern continued its dominance of the doubles competition with another sweep of the courts. Mocs won 6-1 at #1 behind
Maxima Ellenberg and
Laura Vetter and the same score on #3 behind
Kennedi Brown and
Kelly Klaren. Court #2 was set for
Vivien Charvatova and
Laia Pasini, who won 6-4.
In singles,
Olivia Bryant extended her winning streak to eight with a 6-3, 6-3 win at #2 position as
Jolie Miller, who has won the last five in a 6-0, 6-2 win at #4 court. Pasini continued #1 position duties with a 6-3, 6-3 win over SVSU opponent and Vetter won 6-2, 6-2 at the #3 court. Sharing her success in doubles, Brown won her court with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over the Cardinals. The only court loss was a close battle at #5 for
Isabella Bolivar, who lost 7-5, 6-2.
Mocs will return to Lakeland to host Northwood this Wednesday, March 8, set for a 10 a.m. start at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
