LAKELAND, Fla. – The No. 24 Florida Southern College women's tennis team continued their impressive win streak with a 7-0 win against Northwood University Wednesday morning at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
The Mocs (8-2) won its eighth straight match after starting the season 0-2. The win streak is the best since 2019 when the Mocs won nine straight to open the season. The Timberwolves fell to 2-6 on the season with the loss against the Mocs.
Florida Southern won the doubles point with an opening win by
Vivien Charvatova and
Laia Pasini 6-1, at the #2 court. The #1 court won 6-4 behind
Maxima Ellenberg and
Laura Vetter at the number one position. Florida Southern's only court loss was a 4-6 score by
Kennedi Brown and
Kelly Klaren at three.
In singles, the Mocs won each of the courts in two sets as Charvatova led off the wins with a 6-1, 6-0 decision at the #4 court (her sixth win in a row). Vetter continued her success with a win at #2 6-1, 6-3. The match win went to
Jolie Miller, who won her sixth straight match with a 6-3, 6-2 score.
Pasini won at #1 6-2, 6-1, as
Isabella Bolivar took a win at #6 with a 6-1, 6-3 final. Bryant wrapped up her ninth win in a row with a 6-3, 6-4 win at the #3 court and 7-0 Moccasin win.
Mocs will take on the Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Tuesday, set for a 3 p.m. start at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
