LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College men's tennis team extended its win streak to four games after a 7-0 win over Michigan Technological University Tuesday afternoon at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
The Mocs improved to 7-3 overall, while the Huskies fell to 0-6 on the season. Florida Southern, registering votes in the latest ITA poll, won every court in both doubles and singles competition in a dominating performance over the visiting Michigan Tech Huskies.
Florida Southern had another great showing in doubles competition with a shutout of the field.
Matteo Feggi and
Chris Fok Kow teamed for a 6-0 commanding win and
Mario Garoz and
Ryan Rajakar won 6-1 on court #2.
Danny Thomas and
Inaki Braun Simo won #3 with a 6-2 score.
In singles play, Mocs opened with a big win by Garoz at #3 7-5, 6-1, followed by yet another fantastic job by Fok Kow at #1 position with a 6-3, 6-1 score.
Elliott Altman had a big 6-2, 6-1 win at the #4 spot and was the match-deciding point. On court #2, Braun Simo rallied in the first set down 0-4 to win 7-5 in the first set. He went on to win 6-2 in set two. Feggi lost his first set but persevered for back-to-back set wins and another point for the Mocs as
Reese Hilsen earned his first collegiate win with a 6-3, 6-4 win surrounded by the team for the 7-0 Moccasin victory.
The Mocs will stay at home to face Grand Valley State University on Friday, March 10, at 12 p.m. at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
