LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College men's tennis team won another commanding 7-0 victory, this time against Northwood University Wednesday morning at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
The Mocs improved to 8-3 on the season and won their fifth straight match. Mocs are currently registering votes in the latest ITA poll. The Timberwolves fell to 0-8 overall still looking for their first win in the 2023 season.
Florida Southern won all of the doubles flights, beginning with another court one win by
Chris Fok Kow and
Matteo Feggi in a 6-1 decision.
Mario Garoz and
Ryan Rajakar paired for a 7-6 (7-2) decision and
Inaki Braun Simo and
Danny Thomas a 7-5 victory at court three.
The Mocs continued the momentum into singles, where they won all of the courts in two sets. Fok Kow won at #1 with a 6-2, 6-3 score, as Braun Simo won 6-2, 6-1. Garoz and Rajakar beat their Timberwolves opponents 6-3, 6-2 and 6-0, 6-2 respectively. On the #5 court,
John Gidefjord won 6-0, 6-4 and
Alex Fascio outlasted his Northwood opponent with a 7-6 first-set win and a 6-2 set two win.
The Mocs will stay at home and face Grand Valley State University on Friday, March 10, set for a 10 a.m. start at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
