#13 Mocs Fall to #39 Eagles in Regular Season Finale

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The No. 13 Florida Southern College women's tennis team finished the regular season Wednesday afternoon with a 4-3 loss to No. 39 Embry-Riddle at the Crotty Tennis Complex. Mocs moved up in the latest ITA poll this morning to a 13th national spot, along with a No. 7 position in the latest NCAA South Region Poll.

The Mocs (13-5, 4-5 SSC) dropped the doubles point and were unable to tally enough singles flight wins for the conference loss. The Eagles (11-6, 4-5 SSC) defeated the Mocs at their home courts with conference playoff seeding on the line as both teams vie for a spot in the Sunshine State Conference Championships.

A big win at the #1 doubles court opened the match with a 6-4 win by Laura Vetter and Laia Pasini over No. 32 Issler/Blanco but it would be the only court win in doubles. Neli Sunjic and Vivien Charvatova lost 6-4 and the pairing of Kennedi Brown and Kelly Klaren lost 6-3.

In singles, No. 45 Olivia Bryant had a commanding win 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 2 court. Vetter won in three sets after splitting the first two sets and later outlasting her Eagles opponent 13-11 in the third. Isabella Bolivar was the last Moccasin with a flight win in a 6-2, 6-1 score, but three other courts went to ERAU for the FSC loss.

The Mocs will turn their attention to the SSC Championships with the top eight teams in the conference earning an invite. FSC is in a three-way tie for fifth place overall with competition beginning next Thursday, April 20 at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
