DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The No. 27 Florida Southern College men's tennis team lost 5-2 against No. 34 Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Thursday afternoon at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
The Mocs (14-7, 2-4 SSC) fell just short in the doubles point with a close tiebreak loss at the #1 court. The Eagles (10-9, 1-4 SSC) continued their dominance into singles with only two court losses.
A tough doubles loss for the Mocs as they were unable to win at the #1 court after a split two and three courts.
Mario Garoz and
Ryan Rajakar lost 6-1 but a win at #3 by
Danny Thomas and
Inaki Braun Simo kept the point close. Ultimately it was a loss by the No. 8 pairing of
Chris Fok Kow and
Matteo Feggi against No. 36 Guedy/Paschal 7-6 (7-4).
In singles, Fok Kow lost early in two sets against Guedy, along with a loss at court #2 by Braun Simo in two sets.
John Gidefjord lost 6-4, 6-4 at the #5 court to seal the Eagles victory over the Mocs. Despite a loss on #4 by
Alex Fascio in three sets, the Mocs had court wins by
Elliott Altman in three and No. 75 Garoz in three.
The Mocs will return to Lakeland for Senior Day next Thursday, April 13, against No. 44 Queens College set for a 3 p.m. start at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
