LAKELAND, Fla. – The No. 22 Florida Southern College women's tennis upset the No. 9 University of Tampa by a score of 4-3 Thursday afternoon at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center. Mocs celebrated

The Mocs (12-4, 3-4 SSC) lost the doubles point but rallied in singles for an amazing 4-3 victory. The Spartans (10-3, 4-2 SSC) swept the doubles field but were unable to keep the momentum as the Mocs upset the Spartans 4-3.
In doubles, the Mocs battled on each court for the point but were unable to come out on top. The pairing of
Laia Pasini and Vetter was unable to upset the No. 9 crew of Amaro/Sanchez at the #1 court, and a loss on #2 for
Vivien Charvatova and
Neli Sunjic against No. 44 Williams/Wilberg.
Kennedi Brown and
Kelly Klaren lost a close one at the #3 court as well. Each of the courts was won by the Spartans with a 7-5 score.
For the singles competition, a tough field for the Mocs began with a #1 court loss by No. 48 Pasini to No. 13 Amaro in two sets 6-2, 6-2. On court #6, Brown had a great 6-4, 6-4 win for a point for the Mocs before Charvatova won at #5 in three sets for a tie 2-2 team score. No. 42
Olivia Bryant lost her first set but then won 6-0, 6-0 in the next two sets for the court win. The match-deciding point went to Bolivar at #4 as she outlasted Tampa with a three-set thriller. Vetter lost a close three-set flight to her opponent but Mocs win 4-3.
The Mocs will be on the road next week, as they take on No. 39 Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach, set for a 3:30 p.m. start at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
