BOCA RATON, FLA. – The Florida Southern College men's soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw against Sunshine State Conference foe and No.10 ranked Lynn University on Saturday night.Â
Â
The Moccasins (2-2-3, 0-0-2 SSC) and the Fighting Knights (5-0-2, 0-0-2 SSC) gave it everything they had during the entire 90 minutes of action but no goal was able to find the back of the net. The Mocs' defense shined the whole game as Lynn put pressure on the Mocs with five shots in the first period and five in the second while, the Fighting Knights had nine corner opportunities that they could not convert on due to Mocs' stellar defense.Â
Â
Florida Southern attacked early with the first two shots of the game coming from senior forward
Kyle Carr at 8:42 and 13:00 who led the Mocs offense ending with three shots and two shots on goal. Junior midfielder
Jay Skelcher-Maxwell and freshman forward
Joe Maxwell each contributed one shot apiece. Â
Â
Both teams combined for 15 shots with Lynn leading the way with 10 and five on goal while the Mocs tallied five shots and three on goal. Mocs senior keeper
AJ Pearce made his first start of the year and had a significant impact with five saves to squash any momentum for Lynn's offense. Â
Â
The Mocs return home to Berend Field on Saturday, Sept. 30 as they take on Nova Southeastern University in another SSC matchup. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
