FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Florida Southern College volleyball team hit the road Friday night to take on the Nova Southeastern Sharks, who were the top team among others receiving votes in the most recent AVCA Top-25 Poll. NSU was able to protect its home court with a 3-0 victory over the Moccasins.

Florida Southern posted its fourth fourth-highest hitting percentage of the season but it was not enough to slow down the Sharks who won 25-21, 25-22 and 25-21. FSC posted a .231 hitting percentage and did not have a set below .200 while the Sharks hit for .342 including .400 in the final set of the match.

The loss dropped the Mocs record to 9-6 overall including 3-4 in league action while the Sharks moved to 15-4 on the year and 6-3 in SSC action.

Senior
Sandra Sasaki was the lone Moccasin hitter in double-figures as she tallied 12 kills on just 23 swings with two errors for a .435 hitting percentage. She also added four digs and a block. Senior setter
Kiersten Kraus came in second on the team with seven kills to go along with 14 assists, seven digs and a pair of blocks. The only two other Mocs with five-or-more kills were seniors
Zoe Lowe and
Madison Fowler. Lowe finished with six kills, three digs and a block while Fowler added five kills and two blocks. Fowler picked up her five kills on just 10 swings without an error for a team-best .500 hitting percentage.

Mary Kate Mulvaney tied for the team lead with 14 assists while adding four digs. Graduate student libero
Caroline Chambers finished with eight digs, one behind classmate
Mackenzie Petermann who led the team with nine. Freshman
Taylor Zimmerman saw action for just the second time this season and earned five digs over just one set of action while also adding an assist.

The Sharks were led by a pair of hitters as Taylor Stockman led the way with 15 kills and Kate Mihacevich added 11.

The Mocs will be back in action Saturday afternoon as they visit Florida Tech for another Sunshine State Conference match. The Mocs and Panthers will hit the court at 4 p.m.
