MACON, Ga. - The Florida Southern College women's tennis team continued its fall schedule competing in the Mercer Gridiron Classic. Mercer University hosted the event this past weekend at the Randy Stephens Tennis Center in Macon, Ga.

The Mocs had all 11 players competing in the invite as
Olivia Bryant,
Beatriz Costa,
Annika Berrendorf,
Ronja Scheuermann,
Emily Jennewein,
Vivien Charvatova,
Jolie Miller, and
Kennedi Brown represented in singles and Scheuermann and Berrendorf, Jennewein and
Kelly Klaren, Bryant and
Karina Bazilevych, Miller and Costa, Charvatova and
Elin Axler were represented in doubles action.Â

In singles competition, freshman
Emily Jennewein led the way going 4-0 to remain undefeated over the weekend taking down Tamanna Takoria from Middle Georgia State College with a final score of 7-5, 6-1 to win her bracket.Â

Olivia Bryant and
Jolie Miller both finished third this weekend, as Bryant went 2-1 defeating Georgia Southern's Juliette Nask (6-2, 6-3) and Mercer's Marina De Diego Quinoenes (6-3, 6-4) to advance to the semifinals. Miller started the round of 16 with a bye and went on to defeat Middle Georgia State College's Liza Hinrichs 6-1, 6-1.Â

Costa and Scheuermann both won their first matches as Costa defeated Mercer's Ines Homberg (4-6, 6-3, 6-3) and Scheuermann won (6-1, 4-6, 6-4) over Georgia College & State.Â

In doubles, Jennewein joined up with Klaren as the duo won their first match 6-1 over Georgia Southern but fell 6-3 to another Georgia Southern team of Juliette Nask and Franziska Heinemann. The only other doubles pair to capture a victory was the pair of Charvatova and Axler who dominated the first match with a 6-1 win over Georgia College and State but fell in a tough battle to host Mercer 6-4 to Dzhastina Mikhnova and Kennedi Jones.Â

Florida Southern returns home to compete in the YTF Individual Draw, beginning on Friday, Oct, 25.Â
