LAKELAND, Fla. – The No. 16 Florida Southern College men's swimming team lost its home dual meet against the No. 5 University of Tampa Spartans Friday afternoon at the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center Pool.

The Moccasins registered 142 points over the 14 events with a few great event wins, though not enough points to knock down UTampa. The Spartans won the meet with 238 points as the defending NCAA Division II National Champions from the 2023-24 season.

In the first event of the meet, a team of Mocs placed third in the 400 medley relay behind a team of
Brandon Wilson, Janek Barczyk, Nino Viallon, and
Michael Tretyakov (3:20.41). In the 1000 free,
Thomas Wooldridge was the top Moc with a time of 9:49.53 for third place.
Niko Frese also placed third in the 200 free with a time of 1:43.65.

The first event win for the men's team was the 50 back as Wilson won easily in 22.82.
Matheus Da Rocha was not far behind with a third-place finish of 24.21. Barczyk followed with third place in the 50 breast with a time of 25.60. Just a second off from the top spot, Viallon placed second in the 100 fly with 49.01 as Tretyakov (21.02) and Da Rocha (21.11) went second and third in the 50 free.

Florida Southern nabbed another two spots on the podium in the 100 back with Tretyakov (50.80) and
William Eriksson (51.26) were second and third finishers. Barczyk finished third in the 100 breast (57.31) and Frese third in the 400 IM (4:12.83) as the final FSC podium finishes for individual events. In the final event, the 400 free relay, a team of Viallon, Tretyakov, Wilson, and Da Rocha finished second with a time of 3:02.68.

The Mocs will take a couple of weeks off from competition before the IRSC Invite Nov. 21-23 in Ft. Pierce, Fla.
