JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women's soccer team finished the 2024 season with a 4-3 loss against Edward Waters University at the Nathaniel Glover Community Field & Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

The Moccasins (5-7-5, 1-5-4 SSC) had two goals by
Ashley Shimberg, but it was not enough in the 2024 season finale. The Tigers (6-7-2) held off a late push by the Moccasins to win their first matchup against FSC to end the year.

The first half had an early start with four goals in the first 20 minutes of the game. EWU led off with a goal in the third minute, followed by an equalizer by
Jasmin Adames in the 12
th minute. The Tigers scored their second goal in the 14
th minute by Dahien Cabrera, who scored the third goal for EWU in the 21
st minute. All three shots by the Tigers found the net in the first half, as FSC's shots by
Alison Jenkins, Shimberg, and
Megan Rhonemus were saved or off target for a 3-1 EWU lead at halftime. Â

The Mocs cut into the deficit within the first two minutes of the second half with a goal by Shimberg. Adames nearly tied the game in the 50
th minute, but that was saved by a fresh EWU keeper. One minute later, the Tigers took a 4-2 lead off a goal by Rose-Bertude Rosinvil. FSC had great shot attempts by Adames, Shimberg, and
Maddie Ladish over the next 15 minutes, but were not able to score. Shimberg scored her second goal of the game in the 68
th minute, but that would be the final with a 4-3 Tigers win after shots by
Bria Weldon were saved. Hasegawa had assists for both of the Shimberg goals.Â

Florida Southern outshot Edward Waters 17-to-5 as the Tigers goalkeepers combined for nine saves. Shimberg's goals brought her season total to 11, the most by a Moccasin since 2010.
