Women's Tennis Conclude Fall Schedule With FSC Playday

LAKELAND, Fla. - The Florida Southern College women's tennis team concluded its fall season with the inaugural FSC Playday hosted by FSC at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center in Lakeland Fla. on Saturday and Sunday. 
 
The Moccasins hosted Hillsborough Community College, Saint Petersburg College, and Eckerd College during the playday, and all 11 members of the 2024-25 roster saw action on the court over the two days. 
 
Each day they opened with doubles competition with great showings by multiple different pairs. On day one, the pair of Ronja Scheuermann and Annika Berrendorf defeated their opponent from HCC with a 6-3 win, while the duo of Karina Bazilevych and Emily Jennewein dominated the Eckerd pair with a 6-0 final. 
 
Elin Axler and Jolie Miller dropped a hard-fought battle against their HCC opponent 6-3, and Vivien Charvatova and Beatriz Costa paired together battled against their respected opponents falling 6-4. 
 
In singles action, FSC earned nine wins with Olivia Bryant, Kennedi Brown, and Axler all earning two wins while Berrendorf, Kelly Klaren, and Charvatova all earned a win. Bryant dominated both her opponents first with a 6-4, 6-3 win and later a 6-4, 6-4 win. Brown made her presence known with a 6-0, 6-0 first win and later finished with a 6-4, 6-4 win to finish day one. Axler fought hard in her first singles match coming away with a 7-5, 6-4 win before closing out with a 6-0, 6-0 win. 
 
On day two, Mocs saw six wins in doubles actions as Miller and Costa, Bazilevych and Jennewein, Axler and Charvatova all earned 6-3 wins, Bazilevych and Bryant with a 6-4 win, Berrendorf and Brown with a 6-2 win, and Axler and Jennewein with 6-0 win to start the morning. 
 
In singles, Miller defeated her opponent as well as Charvatova in straight sets 6-4, 6-2, while Berrendorf won her final singles match after a fight with a final of 6-3, 5-7, 10-7. Brown and Bryant both battled in their final single matches both forcing an extra set as Brown fell 4-6, 6-3, 10-6 and Bryant a tough 1-6, 7-6 (4), 10-4 final. 
 
Florida Southern will look ahead to the 2025 spring season as they open up the season with the annual FSC Invite on Feb. 1. Full schedule will be released at a later time.
