FT. PIERCE, Fla. – The No. 21 Florida Southern College men's swimming team finished its 2024 calendar schedule with a dual meet against Indian River State College on Friday afternoon.
In team scoring, the Moccasins lost 212.5-49.5 against an IRSC team that has won 50 consecutive NJCAA national championships.
The meet opened with the 200 medley relay as a team of
Brandon Wilson, Travis Oleson, Nino Viallon, and
Matheus Da Rocha finished third in a time of 1:31.56.
Thomas Wooldridge followed as the top Moc in the 1000 free with a fourth-place finish in 9:50.84. The first podium finish for individuals was in the 200 free, as
John Zeiger placed third with a time of 1:43.22.
In the 100 back,
Michael Tretyakov finished third in 50.76, with
Cooper Krance the best FSC finish in the 100 breast with a time of 59.72.
Cormac McKenney finished in fourth of the 200 fly in 1:54.72, followed by Da Rocha in the 50 free, also fourth, in a time of 21.10. Da Rocha followed with fourth in the 100 free, in a time of 46.27. In the 200 back,
William Eriksson finished in 1:57.11, for fourth place, and Oleson fourth in the 200 breast with 2:12.78.
For the 500 free,
Peter Csicsaky had the top FSC time of 4:45.55 for third place. Viallon then finished third in the 100 fly, 51.30. The final individual event of the day was the 200 IM, in which
Gianni Famiano had the best FSC time of 1:58.96, for a fourth-place finish. The final event of the meet was the 400 free relay as a team of Da Rocha, Zeiger, Tretyakov, and Wilson finished in third with a time of 3:05.27.
The Mocs will take the rest of the break off and return to Lakeland for the home opener on Jan. 6 against Westminster College at 1 p.m. at the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center Pool.
