LAKELAND, Fla. - The Florida Southern College women's tennis team fell 6-1 to the No. 2 ranked Nova Southeastern University Tuesday afternoon at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
The Mocs fought hard in doubles but could not convert their effort to wins. The No. 2 pairing
Vivien Charvatova and
Kelly Klaren and No.3 pairing
Jolie Miller and
Ronja Scheuermann battled against the ranked Sharks but ultimately both fell 6-4.
In singles play, the Mocs were incessant in their pursuit of points against NSU as Charvatova had a strong performance in the No.4 single, just falling short of a comeback win for the Mocs with 7-5 and 6-4.
With decisive wins for the Sharks in courts 1, 3, 5, and 6,
Kelly Klaren fought intently on court 6, ending the first round 7-5. However, she could not secure a point against Ita Habekovic closing out the second round 6-1.
Beatriz Costa's match ended early due to the opponent retiring due to an injury, giving the Mocs a win.
The Florida Southern Mocs will return to action on Saturday, February 17, against Palm Beach Atlantic at their home court,
Mitch Gornto Tennis Center, in West Palm Beach, Fla. The match is set to begin at 10 a.m.
