LAKELAND, Fla. - The Florida Southern College women's tennis team fell 6-1 to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Wednesday afternoon in Sunshine State Conference action at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.

The Moccasins (1-3, 1-3 SSC) battled with the Eagles (4-1, 3-1 SSC) in doubles play earning a win against the No. 3 duo as
Vivien Charvatova and
Kelly Klaren won 6-2. It was in the hands of the No. 2 pair to earn the point for FSC but after a hard fight,
Kennedi Brown and
Jolie Miller fell to the Eagles 6-4.

In singles play, the Mocs went the distance in several matches, as Klaren faced the first tiebreaker in the No.6 spot. Klaren fell in the first set 6-4 but never gave up going into the second set fighting to a 7-6 (1) (6-1)Â final. The Eagles were up 4-0 after the doubles point and two dominant wins in the #4 and #5 singles, the remaining singles never gave up as they all went into tiebreaker scoring.Â

Laia Pasini was the fourth to finish in singles, falling to Itxaso Blanco Fernandez De Leceta 6-3, 6-7 (2) [10-5] (9-5) battling till the end. Next
Olivia Bryant earned the lone win for FSC coming in No.4 singles as Bryant defeated Laura Cuesta Bret 6-4, 7-6(5) (6-5).Â

Beatriz Costa's match went to three sets, as the No. 2 single player was the last to finish. Costa forced the third set after winning the second set 7-5, but fell 6-2, 5-7, 6-3.Â

The Florida Southern Mocs will return to action tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 22 as they join the men's tennis team to host Bates College at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center. The first served is scheduled for 3 p.m.
