LAKELAND, Fla. - The Florida Southern College women's tennis team captured its first home win with a dominating 7-0 sweep against non-conference opponent Bates College on Thursday afternoon at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.

The Moccasins (2-3) battled with the Bobcats (0-2) in doubles play earning the point with wins in the No. 2 pairings of
Vivien Charvatova and
Kelly Klaren with a 6-2 score, before a shutout in the No. 3 pairing of
Jolie Miller and
Kennedi Brown with a 6-0 win.Â

With the upper hand after doubles play, singles started with FSC hot as
Olivia Bryant earned the first win as the No.3 singles player, taking down her opponent 6-2, 6-1. The third point for the Mocs came from Charvatova as the No. 4 singles player defeated Bella Saul 6-3, 6–0.Â

The deciding match for Florida Southern to take the win was awarded to
Beatriz Costa in the No.2 singles as Costa won 6-3, 7-5. Miller and
Laia Pasini also earned the win in their respective matches as Miller defeated Elizabeth Frekko 6-4, 6-3 on the No. court, while Pasini took home the win at the No.1 court against Ally Friedman, 7-5, 6-1. Â

Brown sealed the final win for the Mocs to earn the win as the No. 6 singles player defeated Ava Lyon, 6-2, 6-4.Â

The Florida Southern Mocs will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 24 as they host the University of Buffalo at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center. The first served is scheduled for 10 a.m.
