LAKELAND, Fla. - The Florida Southern College women's tennis team continued action in the 2024 FSC Invite after a bit of weather delay on Sunday afternoon at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.

The Moccasins, which are receiving votes in the ITA Preseason Poll, hosted St. Pete College, No. 4 Flagler College, and Rollins College in a season-opening competition. This was the second straight FSC Invite hosted by the women's team.

With a later start, the invite began with four doubles competitions as the Mocs mixed up the pairings from the day before. In the pairs,
Kennedi Brown and
Kelly Klaren won against their opponent, 6-3 as did
Olivia Bryant and
Karina Bazilevych defeating their Rollins opponent 6-4. The final different pair of
Vivien Charvatova and
Jolie Miller also took the court but fell to ranked Saints 6-4. The only pair to stay the same from day one was
Laia Pasini and
Beatriz Costa as the duo fell to a tough Flagler team, 6-2Â

In singles, three Mocs came out victorious as Bryant won her match against Rollins 6-0, 6-3, 6-1. Miller followed with a win against her Tars opponent 6-1, 6-4. Pasini also had a court win against Rollins forcing it to three sets, but coming out on top in the tie-breaker 6-3, 5-7, 10-7.Â

Charvatova battled in the opening set against Rollin but well 7-6 (5), 6-2. Brown and Klaren both took their matches to three sets but fell in the final. Brown fell in the first set 3-6, 3-6, 3-10, while Klaren won set one 6-2, 2-6, 3-10.Â

The Mocs jump right into Sunshine State Conference action on Thursday, Feb.8 as they travel to face Saint Leo. The first serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
