PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Florida Southern College softball team fell on the road to West Florida University as they had to battle in game one 2-1, before an 8-1 loss after waiting through the weather.
Destiny Colgate led the Moccasins (3-3) going 2-for-4 on the day. Erin Moon led the Argos (3-3) going 2-for-3 in both games.

The game started slower than most for the Mocs as a run never came across until the top of the fourth. Colgate hit a single to lead off the top of the second, but it was when
Skyler Ralstin singled to get on in the fourth and advance on the walk from Colgate to get the right fielder into scoring position.
Taylor Thomas singled to move the runners, but
Kate Mikle earned the RBI and put FSC on the board first, 1-0.
Florida Southern kept the lead until the bottom of the sixth when an error allowed West Florida to tie the game with two outs. The Mocs need just one out, but the Argos hit a double to take a 2-1 lead before tagging the runner out at home to get the out they needed. FSC tried to make something turn, but it was too late as the Mocs fell in game one, 2-1.
Ella Torres pitched the complete six innings in the circle for the Mocs, allowing no earned runs on just four hits while striking out one.

After battling through the rain and an hour delay the Moccasins struggled to get any kind of rally going as they fell in game two of the doubleheader.
Kiki Morris got the bats alive early leading off with a double. FSC quickly loaded the bases due to a fielder's choice and a hit by pitch that would allow the Mocs to have runners in scoring position with just one out. The next at-bat the Argos quickly turned the double play getting Morris out at home and Colgate out at third due to a throwing error by the catcher. Ralstin was able to score on the error giving FSC a 1-0.
West Florida quickly tied the game in the bottom of the inning and would go on and increase their lead scoring at least one run in each of the remaining innings.
The Moccasins were outhit tonight 3-to-12 as the three hits came from Morris, Colgate, and pinch hitter
Macayla Brady.
Florida Southern returns to action tomorrow, Feb. 10 against West Florida in the final game of the three-game series. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. CT/ 2:00 p.m. ET.
