Men's Basketball is Primed for Postseason Play

After knocking off Rollins College 106-84 Wednesday night in the regular season finale, Florida Southern College men's basketball secured the no. 2 seed in the upcoming Sunshine State Conference Tournament where the Moccasins earn the right to host as the higher seed. 

As the No. 2 seed, Florida Southern will host the 7th seed on Tuesday, March 5 at 7 p.m. With multiple scenarios, the Moccasins are set to host either Barry, Eckerd, or Florida Tech at Streamline Sale Court inside the George W. Jenkins Field House. The top three seeds, No. 1 Nova Southeastern, No. 2 Florida Southern, and No. 3 Embry-Riddle are locked with Lynn and Palm Beach Atlantic in as the fourth or fifth seeds, based on final results Saturday. 
 
The Sunshine State Conference tournament schedule is March 5 for the quarterfinals (7:00 PM), and March 7 for the semifinals (7:00 PM), with the conference championship on Sunday, March 10 at the highest remaining seed.

The Moccasins finished with a 21-8 overall record and a 15-5 mark in league play and advanced to the SSC tournament for the 47th year and ninth in a row, looking to add to its 25 SSC tournament titles, 20 more than the closest (Eckerd, Rollins, Tampa) on March 5. 
 
NCAA Postseason!
The NCAA announced the latest regional rankings this past Wednesday (Feb.28). Florida Southern was third on the list and set for an NCAA tournament appearance on March 14-17 at the No. 1 site (Nova Southeastern).
