LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern women's tennis faced off against the #32 Mississippi College Choctaws Tuesday afternoon, falling 4-1 at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.

Florida Southern (5-6, 1-3 SSC) fell in doubles, losing the early point before going into the singles against Mississippi College (5-4, 0-0 GSC).

In the doubles,
Neli Sunjic and
Laia Pasini took the win at the No.2 court with a 6-2 win over their opponents. No.1 duo
Kennedi Brown and
Kelly Klaren fell in a close 6-4 match against the Choctaws. Lastly, in the No.3 pair, Florida Southern's
Beatriz Costa and
Ronja Scheuermann had a win slip past them, losing by a close 6-4 loss to Mississippi College.Â

Going into the singles, the Choctaws kept their momentum. The Mocs saw a rough start on No.2 with a 6-1,6-2 loss for Costa. On No.5,
Vivien Charvatova fell to the Hawks in a 6-4,6-2 court loss. The matches in No.1 and No.4 concluded at the same time with Scheurmann facing off with her Mississippi opponent in No.4, taking it to the third set before finally falling in the third set 3-6, 6-4, 2-6, with the Choctaws clinching the meet. Meanwhile, No.1 finished with a 7-5, 6-2 court win for the Mocs as Pasini won over the Choctaws.

Florida Southern returns to action tomorrow, March 13 for another home game, facing off against the #48 Indiana University of Pennsylvania, with the first serve scheduled for 3 p.m.
