Box Score TAMPA, Fla. – The Florida Southern women's tennis team faced off against #17 University of Tampa on Tuesday afternoon in Sunshine State Conference action. The Moccasins (6-8, 1-4 SSC) took one win in doubles but the point went to Spartans (8-2, 3-2 SSC) before singles action. In singles, it was down to the final court to finish as the Mocs rallied back from a 3-0 deficit to tie, but Tampa won the final court to defeat FSC 4-3.
In the doubles,
Ronja Scheuermann and
Jolie Miller teamed up and finished first falling to Anine Wilberg and Savannah Williams 6-3. In No. 1 doubles,
Kennedi Brown and
Kelly Klaren earned a hard-fought victory, winning the tie-breaker for a 7-6 (7-3). Lastly in No.2 doubles,
Laia Pasini and
Neli Sunjic battled through a tiebreaker falling in a close battle 7-6 (7-5).
Going into the singles, the Mocs fell at the No. 3 court, as #51
Olivia Bryant faced off against Savannah Williams 6-2, 6-1. No. 2
Beatriz Costa finished shortly after dropping the third point with a 6-2, 6-4 final. With the Mocs down 3-0, Pasini was the third to finish to make it 3-1 defeating Victoria Sanchez at the No.1 court, 6-3, 6-4. Scheuermann quickly made it a one-point match as she forced a third set to win 6-2, 2-6, 6-2. Miller tied the match at 3-3, taking down her No. 6 opponent 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. With the win in the hands of No. 5
Vivien Charvatova, she too forced three sets falling in the third set, 3-6, 6-1, 5-7.
The Moccasins take a long break and return to action on Saturday, March 30 for another Sunshine State Conference game, facing off against Barry University. The first serve is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the Buccaneer Tennis Center
