Pasini Wins No. 1 Singles, Mocs Fall to #1 Barry in SSC Action

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - The women's tennis team faced off against #1 Barry University Saturday morning in a Sunshine State Conference game at the Buccaneer Tennis Center. The Moccasins (6-8, 1-4 SSC) fell in the doubles before taking it to the singles courts, ultimately falling in a 6-1 defeat to the Buccaneers (11-3, 4-1 SSC).
 
In the doubles courts, duo Ronja Scheuermann and Jolie Miller finished up first, falling to their Buccaneer opponents in a 6-2 loss in the No.3 court. The No.1 court with Kennedi Brown and Kelly Klaren finished next with another 6-2 court loss. Lastly, No.2 pair Laia Pasini and Neli Sunjic endured a 6-4 loss. The Bucs dominated the doubles, earning them the extra point leading into the singles.
 
Going into the singles, the No.5 court was the first to finish with Vivien Charvatova having the win slip past her, 6-0, 6-3. The No.3 court followed after, with No. 69 Olivia Bryant taking a tough 6-2, 6-2 loss to her Barry opponent. Scheurmann finished her game on the No.4 court next with a 6-2, 6-2 loss for the Mocs. The No.6 and the No.1 courts both had their games finished at the same time. The No.6 court saw Miller play a close 5-7 set against Barry only to fall in the second set for a total 5-7, 0-6 loss. Meanwhile, in the No.1 court, No. 18 Pasini took the first set by a point before finishing off her opponent in the second for a 7-6, 6-1 victory for the Mocs. Lastly, the No.2 court finished its match with a tough loss for Beatriz Costa, suffering a 6-4, 7-6 loss. 
 
The Florida Southern women's tennis team returns to the courts on April 6 for another conference matchup against Lynn University in Lakeland, Fla. with the first serve scheduled for 2 p.m.
