Women's Tennis Breeze Past Cardinals In Final Game in Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - Florida Southern College women's tennis played their last game in Hilton Head against Saginaw Valley State University Monday morning, coming out ahead for a victory over the Cardinals, 7-0.
 
The Moccasins (4-6, 1-3 SSC) swept the board in the doubles, having won all three matches for the early point. They then took the fight to the singles matches against the Cardinals (2-4, 0-0 GLIAC)
 
Florida Southern controlled the courts during the doubles, completely boxing out their competition from Saginaw. No.1 duo Kennedi Brown and Kelly Klaren won their match by an impressive 6-1. The No.2 pairing, Neli Sunjic and Laia Pasini won a decisive 6-2 over their Saginaw opponents. Lastly, the No.3 pairing Beatriz Costa and Ronja Scheuermann defeated the Cardinals with a 6-3 court win, earning the Mocs the early point for the doubles.
 
Senior Olivia Bryant led the offensive with the first singles court win for the Mocs in No.3. Bryant swept away her Cardinal opponent for a 6-0, 6-0 win. No.6 Jolie Miller finished next with a court win of 6-3, 6-3 over SVSU's Elizabeth Stuart. No.2 Costa followed a second after with a 6-1, 6-3 court win. No.5 singles finished next, with Brown taking a 6-4, 6-3 court win over her Cardinal opponent. It was followed by a close match in No.4, with Vivien Charvatova taking it to the third set before winning with a 1-0, 4-6, 6-2 court victory. It all came down to No.1 with a sweep resting on Pasini's shoulders, who delivered a hard-fought court win, 7-6,7-5, and gave the Mocs a total 7-0 victory over the Cardinals.
 
Florida Southern women's tennis returns home to face off against Mississippi College on March 12, with the first serve scheduled for 3p.m.
