Men's Tennis Earns Neutral-Site Win Over Bobcats

VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Florida Southern College men's tennis team won its neutral-site matchup against Georgia College and State University by a 5-2 score Thursday afternoon in Valdosta.

The Mocs (8-3) won doubles in two flights and had a great singles competition with four court wins. The Bobcats (3-8) managed two singles court wins but not enough for a match victory.

In doubles, Matteo Feggi and Edoardo Melindo had a big 6-4 win on the #2 court to open the match. Ryan Rajakar and George Russell lost their flight at the #3 court to split the score and lead to a point-deciding court one. Chris Fok Kow and Mario Garoz took the match to a tiebreak and won the flight, and doubles point with a 7-6 (7-5) score.

With the doubles point secured, FSC had a great singles lineup that opened scoring with No. 39 Garoz at the #3 court with a 6-0, 6-2 win. Fok Kow, ranked 17th in singles nationally, then won his court in a 6-2, 6-1 decision. The match-clinching flight was Gabriel Jornert who won 6-3, 6-2 and the final FSC point was on court #6 with Bosko Boskovic by a 6-2, 7-5 score. The final two courts of Russel (21st in ITA singles) and Inaki Braun Simo each lost in three sets.

The Mocs will return to Lakeland to host Thomas Jefferson University on Saturday, March 9, for a noon start at Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
