VALDOSTA, Ga. - The Florida Southern College women's tennis team hit the road to head north to Valdosta, Ga. to face the #37 Blazers in game one of the weekend tri-match.
The Moccasins (7-10) won the doubles point with sweeps on two of the courts as No. 3 doubles
Ronja Scheuermann and
Jolie Miller won 6-3 along with the No. 2 doubles team of
Laia Pasini and
Neli Sunjic for a 6-1 win over the Blazers(8-8). The No.1 match ended early due to injury.
In singles, FSC and Valdosta both earned two singles wins as #12 Pasini swept the first match with a 6-3, 6-1 final.
Olivia Bryant earned the third point for the Mocs, finishing second beating her opponent 6-1, 6-2. The next two matches would go to the Blazers as Scheuermann fell 6-3, 6-3 followed by
Kennedi Brown 6-4, 6-4 at courts four and five. The next court to finish went to Valdosta as
Beatriz Costa forced three sets falling in 6-3, 4-6, 4-6 at court two. All eyes went to court five where
Vivien Charvatova was already in set three as set one went to FSC 7-5 and set two went to Viktoriia Fedorova 6-0 to force the third. Charvatova battled until the final point falling in three 7-5, 0-6, 4-6.
Florida Southern continues action in Georgia with a neutral match against West Florida tomorrow. The first serve is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
