Women's Tennis Dominate Win Over #17 West Florida

VALDOSTA, Ga. - The Florida Southern women's tennis team hit the courts for an away game against the University of West Florida at the VSU courts in Valdosta, Ga.
 
The Moccasins (8-11, 2-6 SSC) took the early point in the doubles, winning two out of three courts against the Argonauts (11-8, 7-3 GSC). They then went into the singles with Florida Southern taking four out of the six matches for a final 5-2 win for the Mocs.
 
Heading into the doubles, #26 ranked duo of Kennedi Brown and Kelly Klaren starred on the No.1 court, taking the 6-3 victory over their opponents. Laia Pasini and Neli Sunjic took a 6-2 victory on the No.2 court against the Argos. All eyes turned to the No.3 court, where Ronja Scheuermann and Jolie Miller played a good game but eventually fell 6-4 to their opponents. Florida Southern earned the early point, putting them ahead before going into the singles.
 
Going into the singles, Olivia Bryant dominated her opponent in a 6-3, 6-1 win on the No.3 court. Brown on the 5th court finished next with a 6-3, 6-3 court win. No.4 finished at the same time, with Scheuermann falling to her West Florida opponent in a 6-4, 6-3 court loss. The No.2 court finished next, with Beatriz Costa having the victory slip through her fingers in a close 7-5 (7-4), 7-5 loss against her Argonaut opponent. No.6 followed soon after, with Klaren taking it to the third set before finally taking the 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 court win. All eyes were on the #12 ranked Pasini at the top court, who took it to the third set and secured a 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 7-5 win. The Mocs won four out of the six match ups, securing the 5-2 win.
 
Florida Southern returns to action for their final conference game in Winter Park, Fla, playing against Rollins College. The first serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
