#13 Mocs Lose Regular Season Finale Against #8 Buccaneers

FSC will await conference championship seeding for a quarterfinal matchup that begins April 26

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The No. 13 Florida Southern College men's tennis team ended the 2024 regular season with a road loss to No. 8 Barry University Tuesday afternoon at the Buccaneer Tennis Center.
 
The Mocs (15-7, 2-5 SSC) could not snag a point in the top -10 matchup with a 7-0 loss to their conference opponent. The Buccaneers (11-5, 4-3 SSC) won doubles in a 3-0 sweep and took all the singles flights in a shutout of the Mocs to end conference play.
 
In doubles, Florida Southern put up a valiant fight with close matchups at the #1 and #3 courts. At #2, Inaki Braun Simo and Bosko Boskovic lost to No. 8 Barry pairing of Riedel and B. Rieme by a 6-4 score. At #3, Matteo Feggi and Ryan Rajakar pushed Barry into a close match but ultimately lost 7-5. Chris Fok Kow and Mario Garoz, ranked 16th as a pairing, went back and forth with Ferreria and D. Rieme but lost 7-6.
 
For singles, the Mocs lost in two sets on all but one court, all against top competition. George Russell faced No. 16 Ferreria with a 6-1, 6-2 loss, as did Fok Kow against No. 10 Lynch 6-2, 6-3. The final ranked matchup was for Garoz against No. 55 D. Rieme, who beat Garoz with a 6-4, 6-4 score. Gabriel Jornert won his first set, but Barry rallied for a set two win and tiebreak win to sweep the Mocs. Boskovic and Braun Simo rounded out the FSC lineup with two-set losses.
 
The Mocs will await seeding for the Sunshine State Conference Championships to be played April 26-28 at the Beerman Family Tennis Complex in Lakeland.
