LAKELAND, Fla. - The Florida Southern College women's tennis team honored two seniors with a 6-1 win over Sunshine State Conference opponent Eckerd on Tuesday afternoon.
The Moccasins (7-10, 2-6 SSC) won the doubles point with sweeps on all of the courts as No. 3 doubles of
Ronja Scheuermann and
Jolie Miller and No. 1 doubles team of
Kennedi Brown and
Kelly Klaren won 6-0. The seniors
Laia Pasini and
Neli Sunjic paired together to take the No. 2 doubles win with a 6-1 final over the Tritons (9-9, 0-6 SSC)
In singles, FSC swept the first three matches to finish, with #71
Olivia Bryant to set the tone with a 6-1, 6-0 final. #14 Pasini had a big 6-1, 6-2 win at the top court, and Brown would capture the fourth point to give the Mocs the win with a 6-2, 6-3 final on court 5. No.4 court of Scheuerman captured the extra point for FSC with a 6-0, 6-4 win before Klaren earned the final point with a dominating 6-1, 6-0 win.
Beatriz Costa was unable to win at #2 with a tight 6-2, 6-1 loss to Olivia Lindestaf.
Florida Southern hits the road to face off against Valdosta State as they travel up to Georgia over the weekend. The Mocs will first face off against the Blazers on Friday, April 12 before a neutral match against West Florida on Saturday. The first serve on Friday is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
