LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women's swimming team lost its Sunshine State Conference dual meet against No. 10 Lynn University Friday afternoon at the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center Pool.

The Moccasins, who are receiving votes in the latest CSCAA Top 25 poll, had great swims but finished with 86 points to Lynn's 174 points. The Fighting Knights won 12 events on their way to a conference dual meet win.

The conference dual meet opened with the 400 medley relay, in which a team of
Zoë Celi, Alexa Paredes, Elizabeth Sikes, and
Sam Hunter finished second overall with a time of 3:53.85. In the 1000 free,
Olivia Miles set a new best for the season with a time of 10:38.33, followed by
Emma Sammons in 10:53.75. In the 200 free,
Ainsley Bennett was the top Moc with a time of 1:56.16 for second place. In the 100 back, the Mocs had another second-place finish with Celi finishing with a time of 59.04.

A close swim in the 100 breaststroke as Paredes finished third in 1:07.12 and another third place in the 200 fly with a 2:07.03 time for Sikes. The last event before the first intermission was the 50 free as Hunter finished first in 24.46 followed by
Ana Sales in third with 25.07. Hunter then followed with a second-place finish in the 100 free in 52.81. Celi then took second in the 200 back with a time of 2:09.38, just ahead of Bennett in third with 2:12.53.

The final individual events included the 500 free, 100 fly, and 200 IM. Miles was second with 5:14.23 for the 500 free, Sikes in third for the 100 fly (57.87), followed by another podium spot for Bennett in the 200 IM (2:12.59). The final event of the meet was the 200 free relay as a team of Sales, Sikes,
Phoebe Reid, and Hunter finished second in 1:39.09.

The Mocs will have a quick turnaround and host No. 5 Nova Southeastern University tomorrow, Jan. 18, with an 11 a.m. start at the Wellness Center Pool.
