LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College men's tennis team had its second tournament of the fall semester with a successful showing at the YTF Invite this weekend at the Beerman Family Tennis Complex.

In the singles main red draw, FSC had two in the semifinals, including
Yeray Quian Darriba, who advanced to the main red draw final. Quian Darriba won four straight to get to the final, facing Oliver Hradilek, dropping that contest 6-2, 6-2.
Wiley Simpson was the other Moc in the semifinals of the red draw, going 3-1 overall.
Jacob Stahlgren Schmidt went 2-1, losing to Quian Darriba in the quarters.
Antonio Correia and
Leon Bircanin also made it to the quarters, winning two matches this weekend.

In the red back draw,
Reese Hilsen rebounded with three straight wins to go to the back draw final, losing 8-5.
Tanner Simpson went 1-1 on the weekend in singles, making it to the quarters of the red back draw.

For the singles main black draw,
Bosko Boskovic and
Mario Garoz made it to the quarterfinals with wins.Â
Gabriel Jornert won his opening match, and Boskovic later advanced in a close round of 16. Other round of 16 Mocs included
Marco Cinotti, Youssef ElShafei, and
Matthew Hewitt with opening match wins. Both Boskovic and Hewitt beat higher seeds in their weekend matchups. In the back draw,
George Russell lost in the semifinal 8-6.

For doubles, two of the four FSC pairings made it to the semifinals, including the team of Simpson and Cinotti and ElShafei and Garoz. Both pairings lost in the semis, but still had a great showing of the Moccasins throughout the tournament.Â

The Mocs will finish its fall schedule at the ERAU Invite at the end of the month, hosted by Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach.
