A Trio of Moccasins Earn Weekly Honors from Sunshine State Conference

ORLANDO, Fla. – Senior Christian Giller of the 21st-ranked Florida Southern College men's cross country team, sophomore Daniel Meszaros of FSC men's swimming and graduate student Clare Gimpel of 25th-ranked FSC women's golf earned Sunshine State Conference Weekly honors. Giller was named the SSC Men's Runner of the Week, the fifth honor of his career, Meszaros took home the SSC Men's Swimmer of the Week while Gimpel was name the SSC Women's Golfer of the Week.
 
Giller led the 21st-ranked Moccasins to a sixth-place finish at the Lewis Crossover in Romeoville, Ill. Competing against 11 nationally ranked teams, Giller finished 13th overall with a time of 24:21.02 on the 8K course, marking the fourth-best time in FSC history and the second-fastest of his career. This recognition marks his fifth career Sunshine State Conference Runner of the Week honor and his first of the 2025 season.
 
Meszaros, from Budapest, Hungary, achieved two individual event victories during the dual meet win over Florida Tech, marking the opening of the 2025-26 season for the men's swimming team. He secured wins in the 200 free with a time of 1:39.54 and the 100 free with a time of 45.38. Additionally, Meszaros contributed to a relay victory in the 400 free relay and helped secure a third-place finish in the 200 medley relay.
 
Gimpel led the No. 25 women's golf team to a fourth-place finish at the NCAA National Championship Preview at PGA National. She captured her first career tournament title with a three-round score of 223 (+7), including an impressive under-par final round. Gimpel's performance was highlighted by four consecutive birdies on holes 8-11, contributing to her standout achievement.
 
The trio mark the sixth, seventh and eighth weekly honors for Florida Southern College during the 2025-26 season. Gimpel is already back in action with women's golf at the LeeAnn Noble Memorial in Dahlonega, Ga. while Giller will next be in action at the 2025 Sunshine State Conference Championship on Saturday, Oct. 25 while the men's cross country team will host the Ed Holloway Classic this Friday night, Oct. 17. Meszaros and men's swimming will be back in action this Friday Oct. 17 at SSC rival University of Tampa for a dual meet.
