MACON, Ga. – The Florida Southern College water ski team made program history this weekend, capturing its first South Atlantic Conference Regional Championship since 2012. The Mocs dominated across all three events: slalom, trick, and jump to finish with a team total of 7,450 points, edging the University of Alabama (7,215).
Florida Southern claimed first place in every event, scoring 2,625 points in slalom, 2,615 in trick, and 2,210 in jump, leading the 13-team field that included Rollins College, Clemson, Auburn, and Georgia Tech.
While the full mixed-division results are still being tallied, preliminary reports and team observations highlight several exceptional skiers.
For the men,
George Malinovski anchored FSC's performance, delivering consistent runs in slalom and trick that contributed heavily to the team's slalom and trick victories.
Evan Robbins posted strong jumps down the ramp under pressure, helping to push the team past 2,200 points in jump.
For the women,
Aaliyah Yoong Hanifah and
Perrine Sonier delivered clutch performances across events, particularly in trick, and jump setting the tone for younger competitors.
Chloe Ellingsen and
Solie Stenger who also stepped up in women's divisions, advancing through rounds and earning key points in trick and jump to bolster the overall total.Â
These skiers, along with contributions from the rest of the roster, demonstrated that the Mocs' victory was not a one-man show but rather a team effort.
With the regional crown secured, Florida Southern now turns its attention to the upcoming NCWSA National Championships, where the Mocs will look to build on their momentum and contend against the nation's best. The Championship will be Oct. 16-18 in El Centro, Calif. on the Imperial Lakes.Â
